Throughout his career, Steve Brooks has worked across renewable energy, biomass power, fuel innovation, project finance, corporate strategy, and operational leadership, helping develop practical solutions that improve existing energy infrastructure while supporting reliable electricity generation.

Steve currently serves as President of Convergen Energy, one of North America’s leading engineered fuel companies. Convergen develops and supplies engineered fuel pellets produced from carefully selected non-hazardous industrial residuals, providing utilities, municipalities, universities, and industrial energy users with reliable alternative fuel solutions. Under Steve’s leadership, the company has continued expanding its engineered fuel platform while strengthening long-term commercial relationships with customers seeking greater fuel flexibility, improved sustainability, and dependable fuel supply.

Before joining Convergen Energy, Steve held senior investment and executive leadership roles with an international private investment group whose portfolio spanned energy, shipping, aviation, real estate, hospitality, and other infrastructure sectors. As Senior Vice President – Investments, he oversaw energy businesses representing approximately 70 MW of generating capacity across multiple technologies while leading strategic transactions, refinancing initiatives, operational improvements, capital allocation, and infrastructure investments.

During this period, Steve worked extensively with biomass power generation, renewable energy assets, and utility-scale energy projects. His responsibilities included refinancing operating power plants, integrating renewable fuel production with existing generation facilities, overseeing management teams, improving operational performance, and evaluating new energy investment opportunities. This combination of financial, operational, and technical experience continues to shape his practical approach to energy infrastructure development.

Steve’s experience extends well beyond traditional finance. Throughout his career, he has negotiated long-term commercial agreements, raised capital for infrastructure projects, guided complex operational improvements, and worked closely with plant operators, utilities, municipalities, regulators, lenders, and private investors. His ability to bridge technical operations with commercial strategy has made him a valuable leader across multiple sectors of the energy industry.

In addition to leading Convergen Energy, Steve serves as an advisor to both Riverview Energy Corporation and FlexOnyx, supporting the development of large-scale projects involving advanced recycling, resource recovery, engineered fuels, and industrial energy infrastructure. These initiatives reflect his broader interest in identifying practical technologies that improve resource utilization while leveraging existing industrial assets and infrastructure.

Steve believes that the future of the energy sector will depend not on a single technology, but on intelligently combining proven infrastructure with innovative fuels and new operating models. As electricity demand accelerates through industrial growth, electrification, artificial intelligence, and expanding data center development, utilities and industrial energy users will increasingly require flexible, reliable, and economically practical solutions that can be deployed using existing infrastructure wherever possible.
